Typically, I see a new trend in social media apps and think “Oh, am I supposed to be doing that too?” You should have seen my son’s face when I told him I’d registered an OnlyFans account in my name. I just thought it was another Patreon style site. Lesson learned.
So far I’ve signed up for everything and then realised that I can’t maintain it because I’m too busy doing my client work. It makes me seem flaky. So I’ve made a decision to only offer mentoring, consultations and illustration coaching on an individual basis, until I can give sites like Patreon, Opensea, Ko-fi, and online course creation the attention they need without sacrificing all of my downtime. I’m just one person. I’m sorry to anyone that was following/hoping to follow via those routes, I genuinely am.
But the good news is that I have more time for coaching on a one-to-one basis. I have a limited capacity - I’m booked for client work way into 2023 - but I feel like this is the way forward. I’m from a educational background, I enjoy helping and guiding people and I do miss that from my lecturing days. So I’m going to use that time that I was spending developing content for every single platform, and use it to connect with people directly. Please DM me if you’re interested - I don’t do hard sells.
I feel happier already. The pressure to keep all of my sites and apps updated has been weighing on my shoulders. I’ll hopefully have a bit more time to concentrate on regularly updating Instagram, Twitter and my website, but we’ll see.
Try it - give yourself some slack and concentrate on the things that are important to you, not the ones you feel you should be doing because everyone else is. It’s liberating.
